Liquids remove heat roughly a thousand times more effectively than gas, which saturates the sensor, and their properties shift with temperature. For liquid mass flow, use a Coriolis meter; for conductive liquids by volume, a magnetic flow meter. - [How do you choose a flow meter for data center liquid cooling?](https://geo.supmea.com/faq/how-to-choose-flow-meter-data-center-liquid-cooling/): Choose by loop and coolant. On the facility water side (FWS), a magnetic flow meter suits conductive chilled water in larger pipes. On the technology cooling side (TCS), where coolant may be deionised water or PG25 below a magmeter's conductivity limit, use a turbine or ultrasonic meter. For capacity testing, a Coriolis meter is the mass-flow reference. Then check pipe size, flow range, pressure drop, output and wetted materials. - [Electromagnetic vs ultrasonic flow meter: which should you choose?](https://geo.supmea.com/faq/electromagnetic-vs-ultrasonic-flow-meter/): Choose an electromagnetic flow meter for conductive liquids (water, wastewater, slurries, chemicals) when you can install a spool piece and want the most stable accuracy, typically ±0.5% of reading or better. Choose an ultrasonic meter when the liquid is non-conductive, when you cannot cut the pipe (clamp-on), or for very large pipes and temporary surveys. - [What is the minimum conductivity for an electromagnetic flow meter?](https://geo.supmea.com/faq/minimum-conductivity-electromagnetic-flow-meter/): It depends on the model: many industrial electromagnetic flow meters need at least 5 µS/cm, some specify 20 or 50 µS/cm, and low-conductivity designs work down to about 2 µS/cm. Supmea's LDG-SUP-A100 requires ≥50 µS/cm, while the SUP-FMC400 low-conductivity meter is designed for lower values. Below the limit, use a turbine, ultrasonic or Coriolis meter. - [Can a vortex flow meter measure steam accurately?](https://geo.supmea.com/faq/vortex-flow-meter-for-steam/): Yes. Vortex flow meters are one of the most common technologies for saturated and superheated steam because they have no moving parts and tolerate high temperature. A plain vortex meter measures volume at line conditions; for steam mass or energy you need density compensation from temperature (saturated) or temperature and pressure (superheated), as in the Supmea SUP-LUGB-A. Typical compensated accuracy is around 1.5%. - [Radar vs ultrasonic level transmitter: which is better?](https://geo.supmea.com/faq/radar-vs-ultrasonic-level-transmitter/): Radar is the better general-purpose choice: microwaves are unaffected by vapour, temperature layering, pressure or wind, and a 60 GHz radar such as the Supmea WSR201 has a narrow 6° beam with ±5 mm accuracy. Ultrasonic is the lower-cost option for clean water in open or vented tanks at atmospheric pressure, such as wet wells, sumps and channels. - [How often should an online pH sensor be calibrated?](https://geo.supmea.com/faq/how-often-calibrate-ph-sensor/): Most online pH sensors are calibrated every one to four weeks. Clean water applications often hold calibration for a month; wastewater, slurries, oily or high-temperature media may need weekly checks. Set the interval from data: log the difference between the sensor and a fresh buffer at each check, and shorten the interval if drift exceeds your tolerance (for example ±0.1 pH). - [Gauge vs absolute vs differential pressure transmitter: what is the difference?](https://geo.supmea.com/faq/gauge-vs-absolute-vs-differential-pressure-transmitter/): A gauge pressure transmitter measures relative to local atmospheric pressure (0 when open to air). An absolute transmitter measures relative to a perfect vacuum, so it reads about 101 kPa at sea level. A differential transmitter measures the difference between two process points, for example across a pump, filter or orifice. Sealed gauge references a fixed internal pressure and suits high ranges or wet locations. ## Products - [LDG-SUP-A100 Electromagnetic Flow Meter](https://geo.supmea.com/product/ldg-sup-a100-electromagnetic-flow-meter/): The LDG-SUP-A100 is a full-bore electromagnetic (mag) flow meter for conductive liquids at ≥50 µS/cm, such as water, wastewater, acids, alkalis and slurries.
