SUP-LUGB Vortex Flow Meter
The SUP-LUGB is a vortex shedding flow meter for steam, gases and low-viscosity liquids from DN15 to DN300. Accuracy is 1.0% for liquids and 1.0–1.5% for gases depending on size, with medium temperature versions up to 300 °C. Output is 4–20 mA plus RS485 Modbus RTU; a temperature- and pressure-compensated version (SUP-LUGB-A) calculates mass flow.
What it does
A vortex meter places a bluff body in the flow. Vortices shed alternately from each side at a frequency proportional to velocity, so the meter counts vortices instead of relying on a moving part. That makes it a durable choice for steam headers and utility air, where turbine meters wear and magnetic meters cannot read the medium.
For energy billing on steam, the compensated version reads temperature and pressure at the meter and reports mass flow directly.

Frequently asked questions
Can a vortex flow meter measure saturated steam?
Yes. For billing accuracy use the compensated SUP-LUGB-A, which corrects for density using measured temperature and pressure.
What straight pipe run does a vortex meter need?
Typically 10–20 D upstream and 5 D downstream, more after elbows or control valves. Follow the installation manual for your configuration.
