Chemical Processing instrumentation
Chemical plants need mass-accurate batching, corrosion-resistant wetted parts and reliable tank inventory. Supmea's FCC-300 Coriolis meter handles batching and blending, the LDG electromagnetic flow meter with PTFE liner and Hastelloy or tantalum electrodes handles acids and alkalis, the WSR201 radar measures tank level without contact, and the SUP-PH6.5 controls neutralisation.
The measurement challenge
Recipe accuracy in a chemical plant is a mass problem. Densities shift with temperature and concentration, so volumetric meters drift exactly where precision matters most. Coriolis meters remove that variable.
Elsewhere, the priority is material compatibility. Choosing the right liner, electrode and seal is usually more important than the last decimal of accuracy.
- Corrosive media attack standard 316L, so match liner and electrode to the chemical.
- Batch accuracy requires mass, not volume.
- Hazardous areas require explosion-protected versions (e.g. LDG-SUP-A100D).
- Integration into DCS and SIS commonly uses HART.

Material selection first
A meter with the wrong liner fails in weeks. As a starting point, PTFE/F46 liners cover most acids and alkalis up to 120 °C; tantalum or platinum-iridium electrodes resist hydrochloric and other aggressive acids. Confirm against a corrosion table and the actual concentration and temperature. Our guide to magmeter conductivity limits covers the other common selection mistake.
HART and digital integration
HART lets DCS and asset-management systems read diagnostics alongside the 4–20 mA value. Supmea joined the FieldComm Group (HART Communication Foundation) in 2025.
Frequently asked questions
Why use Coriolis for batching?
It measures mass directly, so density changes from temperature or concentration do not affect the batch quantity.
Can radar measure solvent tanks?
Yes, if the dielectric constant is at least 3. Many hydrocarbons are lower, so check with Supmea.
